How To Withdraw STEEM From BitShares.Org - Tutorial

At the time of this writing (July 23, 2017), there does not seem to be an easy way to withdraw STEEM from BitShares.Org . The SBD option does not seem to be there, either. In my case, at least, the option does not exist under the normal "Deposit/Withdraw" button/tab at the exchange site. Maybe this is temporary. Anyways, there is another way to get STEEM from BitShares into your Steemit wallet.

If for some reason you are not able to withdraw STEEM via the regular OPEN.STEEM option at Bitshares, you can still withdraw using the following method.

Step 1 - At the BitShares site, Convert all your Steem to BTS

Step 2 - Once you have the BTS, go to Deposit/Withdraw tab at the top of the exchange site. Where it says "Transfer Service", choose BlockTrades (TRADE.X)

Step 3 - A new screen shows up. There will be options for Deposit, Withdraw, and Internal Conversion. What interests in this case is the Withdraw area. In the first coin, select BTS, in the second coin, select STEEM. Then type how many BTS you want to convert to STEEM, then click on Withdraw Now.

Step 4 - This is the final step. A popup appears, requesting to fill the "Withdraw To Address". That would be your Steemit username. In my case, it is galactic123 , and in the MEMO, paste the MEMO that you can find at your Steemit wallet, under Permissions.

Essentially what happens here is that you send BTS to Blocktrades, and they convert them to STEEM, and lastly deposit them in your Steemit wallet. If you are going to try this, make sure to experiment with small amounts of BTS first, to make sure all is OK.

Hope this helps!

Cool. I commented. :)

what's the difference between openledger.io and bithsares.org exchange ?

As far as I know, openledger is the base technology of bitshares exchange. So, they are the same thing. The name bitshares is more like a marketing thing, so to speak.

It's still a problem. Thanks for the instructions!

i did not see this in time. I followed some reddit tutorial. and as i had transferred via bittrex....i felt familiar. but this weird thing that you have to trade you open.steem into bitshares and then mail bitshares to steem is incredibly counter intuitive.
So i fucked up. mailed open.steem to my steem wallet. i gave all the right info...but open.steem couldnt handle it.
now i am in one of these back and forths with the open ledger support.
has anyone had any luck with open ledger support. this money definitely did not end up in a wrong wallet. my steem wallet and account was entered in 100% correctly, i have quadruple checked.
what happens to the coins when they go to a dead end. i've yet to deal with this. any advice or past experience shared would be much appreciated

Thanks for this.

I just had some WHALESHARES form a twitter competition and wasn't sure how to get them into my Steemit account.
