Today's post was inspired by two olive brunches I found in the middle of the street. They were so beautiful and look stunning inside any home. Olive trees can live thousands of years. Here in Portugal to find them in the street is not difficult. But it is not easy to grow them at home. Today I am going to share easy ways of growing olive trees at home.
How to grow olive trees from scratch:
You can grow an olive tree from seeds. The price for them in shops is very low and any gardener can afford it. Or, if possible, pick fresh green olives straight from the tree in early autumn. Also, many tourists bring olive pits from trips to the Mediterranean countries.
How to choose the olive seed
You can not use Olive pits. that you bought in the supermarket. As the pit must be fresh So you can buy the pit from a special seed store that sells the seeds for plants. Or you can take it directly from the tree. It is important to take the pit before the turn black. The peat is normally covered into a special layer that prevents it from germination. So our 1st task is to remove that layer. You have to soak the pits and place them in the bucket with water. Use hummer to smash gently the flesh. Change the water frequently. After 24 hours use kitchen pad to remove skin on the pit.

Wow is a very instructive and interesting post. In Portugal, they have an advantage. Here in Venezuela there are no olive trees on the street. We can only get it at the supermarket!
