I was with a friend some time back, and he shared his vision with me. We talked about it, and from what he explained, starting would require a significant capital investment especially to get some essential equipment for operations.
I told him, Brother, you need to first get into the business. Meet people already in it and learn from their experience. Don’t just see a business and jump into it because you have the cash to spend. Today, I got up to a call from that same friend. He told me he was in town and would be working from his place. I was so happy, that project he’s talked about for the past two years is finally coming to life. Lately, we have not been able to work at the office due to low voltage. It’s been so that bad, we can not even charge our laptops.
I took my bath and was fortunate to have breakfast. LOL. That is the benefit of having someone around. Thanks to my mom. On other days, I would just prepare and leave the house without eating.
But this morning, I had a heavy breakfast. It was white yam with scrambled egg sauce and fish. Sometimes, I do not get it. Why add fish to eggs? Well, I still enjoyed it anyway.
Since I was not going to the office, my first stop was at the field to watch our academy team. Our U-15 squad is currently in a competition, and today was their third game which is a must-win match.
They had lost the first game and drawn the second. This time, the kids really played like an academy team. Their previous matches had been poor, and I personally got upset with management. It turned out to be a great game.
Today’s performance was top-notch. Even spectators were asking what had changed with the kids. The match ended with our team winning 3–0.
I left the field happy and sent the score to my colleagues who could not make it.
It was almost midday when I headed straight to my friend’s place. When I arrived, he was still setting up. “No be small thing ooh!”.
He showed me the huge machine that will be used for printing enlargements. Just the machine alone cost over $4,000, plus some new computers.
Since we had previously discussed it, he explained his approach. How he plans to start and his long-term goals for scaling and improvement. I helped with arranging and cleaning and also gave a few suggestions for him to think about.
One key thing I mentioned was the importance of deciding what you are selling, is it your product or your brand of service?. (I talked about this topic in more detail the other day.)
By evening, we wrapped things up. He went out to get some materials while I headed back home. I had some work to do, but honestly, I did not feel up to it, I was tired. So I took my bath and switched on the TV.
I found myself half-watching, half-sleeping, and eventually just went to bed to end the day.
