I Grew a Tree Through the Concrete Floor of My Home

I did something a few years ago that many people would call foolish or even crazy. In the courtyard of my house, I shattered a portion of the solid, 6-inch-thick cement floor—yes, the majority of people are proud of—and planted a small sapling there. Despite being only a foot tall, it was a banyan tree with a lot of promise. The crowd laughed. They inquired as to why I would destroy an excellent cement floor to plant a tree. “It won’t survive,” some said. Others warned, "It will make your house dirty." I didn't, though. I was doing more than just planting a tree; I was also allowing nature to breathe inside my own home. That tiny banyan seedling is now a mature tree. Its green leaves dance in the breeze, its branches provide shade, and its roots have pushed away the cement. It is a representation of life's power, faith, and patience. That tree grew in my heart as well as in my house.
