Art Explained by a Writer: The Laughing Girl (1894)

Well, he asked, What do you think?

Hmmm... what are those white spots underneath my eyes? Did you run out of paint? And what about those black circles under my eyes?
I'm deeply disappointed. Couldn't you have painted me a little better? I thought you were a talented painter.
Look at my eyes and next what you painted; they're not even smiling.
If you ask me, you put more attention into the frame of the painting above the fireplace than into me.
Did you notice the left sleeve of my blouse looks strange as well?

And now I'm going to my room, my back hurts from that ridiculous position. I'm done posing for you. You'd better go practice sketching first. Good night!

Jajajaja. Estoy casi segura de que a Rusiñol le hubiese encantado un comentario así de su modelo, porque lo hubiese motivado a esforzarse más, jeje. Me encantó leerte.

Where do you get so many good stories? I never imagined you'd get a conversation from a model with its creator. Great.
