Our observations and synopsis:
Just a few days back we read news of a mutiny staged by passengers in EasyJet plane objecting to the attempted removal of two black men from the aircraft for not following instructions from a crew member. Read about it here. This is a clear indication of how as a society some sections of the population have shed their superiority complex and are accepting of other cultures.
Two decades ago, it would have been unimaginable for a non-white to be even mentioned as a potential candidate for the PM post in Great Britain. Today, Rishi Sunak of Asian parentage, is being touted openly as a potential PM candidate for the PM's post. This is a clear indication of merit ruling over race, religion or cast and the maturity of the British people. The trend was set by the corporate giants in the U.S earlier by appointing CEOs based on merit rather than color of the skin.
Unfortunately, this is not so everywhere in the world. Except for the U.S and the United Kingdom, the rest of the world is still steeped in the quagmire of race, religion and caste. In our fast changing and intensely competitive world, such narrow-mindedness comes at a cost - lack of economic progress.
