Assalam o alaikum.

Hello my steemit friends i hope you are doing well and enjoying life. I enjoy writing and sharing my thoughts in different contests. Today i am writing about a very important topic – "Water sources and uses in agriculture." I comes from a family wheres farming is common so i know how importants water is for growing crops.

What are the types of artificial and natural sources of irrigation in agriculture? Which source do you use in agriculture?

In agriculture irrigation is the way of giving water to crops. There are two types of sources for irrigation natural and artificial. Natural sources of irrigation include rain rivers lakes springs and underground water. These are the sources that are already found in nature. Artificial sources of irrigation are man-made. These include canals tube wells tanks drip irrigation systems and sprinkler systems. In my area most people use tube wells and canals. Sometimes we also use rainwater when there is good rainfall. Tube wells are the most used source because they provide water any time we need it especially when there is no rain.

What are the reasons for excessive cost of irrigation and how can it be reduced?

Irrigation can be costly for many farmers. One reason is the high price of electricity or diesel that is used to run tube wells. Also pipes motors and other equipment used in irrigation are expensive. Sometimes canals are not maintained well and need repair. Another problem is water leakage from pipes which causes waste and increases the cost. Old methods of watering crops also waste a lot of water and money. To reduce the cost of irrigation farmers can use solar energy instead of electricity or diesel. This will save a lot of money in the long run. Pipes and motors should be repaired on time to avoid leakage. Also using modern systems like drip irrigation and sprinkler systems can save both water and cost. These systems give water directly to the roots of the plants and waste less water. If farmers learn new ways and work together they can save a lot of money. Government help is also important. Supports from the government can make irrigations tools cheaper for small farmers.

What role does irrigation play in increasing crop production?

Irrigation plays a very big roles in increasing crop production. If water is givens at the right time and in the right amount crops grow better and give more yield. Irrigation helps plants to stay healthy strong and green. In dry areas where there is less rainfall irrigations helps in growing crops even during summers. With properly irrigation farmers can grows two or three crops in one year. This increases their income and improves food supply. In our fields we grow wheat sugarcane and vegetables. All these need good irrigation. When we give water on time our crops grow fast and we get a good harvest. So irrigation is like giving life to plants.

How can natural water sources be controlled? Share your opinion.

Natural water sources like rivers rain and lakes are not under our full control but we can use smart ways to manage them. In my opinion we should build small dams to store river water. Rainwater can also be stored in tanks ponds or underground storage. This is called rainwater harvesting. In some places check dams are made to stop rainwater from flowing away quickly. Trees also help in keeping natural water sources safe. Planting trees helps in bringing rains and stopping soil erosions we should also keeps our rivers and lakes cleaned because dirty water is not useful for farming. In my village some peoples store rainwater in big containers and use it for their crops later. This is a good idea that can help many farmers.

water is the heart of farming. Without water we cannot grow anything. Natural and artificial sources both are important in agriculture. We should used water wisely and reduces its cost by using smart and modern methods. Irrigation not only helps crops to grow buts also improves the life of farmers. We must protected our natural water and use it with care. This way we can save water for the future and get better results in farming.

@sana-khan01 Very well explained Using solar energy and modern irrigation methods is a smart way to reduce costs and boost crop yield.

Los pozos tubulares son muy comunes ya que de ellos se puede extraer agua no solo para el riego de nuestras plantas sino también para nuestro consumo
