An unforgettable moment at the Tanfous Hotel: our 2v2 pétanque competition!

Hello steemians,

During my stay at the Tanfous Hotel, one moment in particular stood out and left an unforgettable impression on each of us, not because of its grandeur, but because of the human intensity, the complicity and the spirit of play that it aroused, a game of petanque in pairs, played under a brilliant sun, in the heart of an idyllic setting surrounded by palm trees, laughter, and that sweet summer atmosphere that transforms simple moments into memorable memories.

That day, motivated by the desire to have fun but also by the taste of competition, we formed two teams of two players each, determined to do battle on the carefully marked sandy ground within the complex itself. Pétanque, although seemingly calm, requires a keen sense of precision, strategy, but above all mental and gestural coordination between teammates, which was for us a real area of exchange and silent understanding.

The rules were clear, in fact each team had to, in turn, throw their metal balls in order to get as close as possible to the jack, this small wooden ball serving as a reference for counting points, at the end of each round, only the balls closest to the jack compared to those of the opponent counted, and the team reaching the score of 13 first won the game.

A key moment of verification: my partner precisely controls the position of the balls, leaning on the ground, concentrating to assess the situation and make the best decision.

The intensity was evident right from the start. Our opponents took the lead with a score of 4-3, which might have demoralized us if it weren't for our increasing resolve. However, after modifying our plan and better timing our throws, we chained the points with incredible accuracy to win 8–4, marking a significant turning point in the game where confidence filled our camp. However, as in any good duel, nothing is ever acquired too soon and our opponents knew how to react with panache, reversing the dynamic and regaining the advantage at 9-8, making the atmosphere even more electric and the suspense at its peak, and each shot became crucial, each distance measurement gave rise to long discussions, and each applause resonated like a wave of motivation.

It was at this moment that our cohesion made the difference, my teammate and I showed extreme concentration, combining decisive shots and tactical positioning to score the last points with control and composure, after a series of tense but always respectful exchanges, we finally concluded the game with a score of 15 to 11, sealing a deserved victory but above all celebrating a moment of sport and sharing of rare intensity.

This match would not have had the same flavor without the friendly atmosphere that reigned around the field, spectators, friends, passers-by and even a hotel entertainer participated with their encouragement, their smiles or their teasing, the improvised jury took its role very seriously, measuring the gaps between the balls with an almost comical seriousness, and everyone played the game with an exemplary spirit of fair play.

And as if all this were not enough to illustrate the beauty of this moment, a video captured during the game immortalized the atmosphere, the laughter, the gestures, the applause, and everything that cannot be expressed with words but is fully experienced when you are there, feet in the sand, gaze fixed on the jack, and heart beating slightly faster than usual.
