Well, at least we think it's a milestone! When we first started on Steemit just under two months ago our reputation was very little. We published our launch post on the 4th February and our reputation was around 40 then. Since that time we have managed to increase our reputation to our latest score which stands at 60. Woop! Woop! However, before we get too excited we need to ask the question - does reputation really matter? ![ACOM-1steemit.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmP9T6juoLQLzkhu69yk83tkEnGvbQBSDf3QPjbFwB9UMZ/ACOM-1steemit.png) This is a question we have been considering for a while now. At one time on Steemit reputation was really less important because it could so easily be bought. Do you remember all those vote bots and bid bots? They seemed to pop up everywhere and the platform was flooded with them at one time. This was not a good thing for Steemit or the ecosystem. It meant reputation could simply be paid for and not earned. ![ACOM-1steemit.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmP9T6juoLQLzkhu69yk83tkEnGvbQBSDf3QPjbFwB9UMZ/ACOM-1steemit.png) We are delighted to see Steemit now far less reliant on vote bots, it's a great achievement and really needed to happen. In fact as far as we can tell there are hardly any bid bots or vote bots around these days it seems and we'll raise a glass to that. Without them Steemit can create a much healthier environment for all and reputation is now earned again and not bought. That is so important because it means that when we factor in reputations we know that in most cases these days they are genuine and provide an important indicator as to the person's strength and quality of character. ![ACOM-1steemit.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmP9T6juoLQLzkhu69yk83tkEnGvbQBSDf3QPjbFwB9UMZ/ACOM-1steemit.png) It also proves another very important factor. It demonstrates that a community can change, it shows that the Steemit community can come together and agree on a better way forward. But most of all it proves that there is a very engaged and vibrant group of people on Steemit who are prepared to stand up and do what's best for their community.
