[Steem Atlas](https://steematlas.com/) continues to grow - both in features and usage. Currently we have a team of three working on Steem Atlas alongside other projects. This work is currently covered from our own resources and from being a Top 20 witness. We believe Steem Atlas has the potential to grow into a robust product with great potential to promote Steem to the wider world To achieve this though we do need to build a firm financial foundation for the project. ---

The Business Model : Options

The obvious target for income generation on Steem Atlas will, in future, be **advertising**. This might take various forms but before any sort of advertising revenue becomes a realistic proposition we will need to build substantial usage figures. Building those usage levels will be a major part of our growth strategy in the coming months. --- Another potential revenue source might be to develop a **Pro-level Subscription** option. This was suggested by @alejos7ven. It is definitely a good idea but will require some careful thought to determine what additional features can be cost effectively provided to make a Pro subscription attractive enough to get people to buy into it. --- A third option for funding will be the **Steem DAO**. This has only been accessed once so far (since the big split) by @the-gorilla for his work on steemit.com. Once we have the basic Steem Atlas platform fully functioning and working smoothly we would definitely like to explore the possibility of submitting a DAO proposal to fund the next phase of development. The success of that will depend on whether enough members of the community consider Steem Atlas worthy of receiving DAO funding. We will be sharing more ideas on this as the project develops further. ---

The Business Model : Beneficiaries

One other option for getting support for the project is through the **beneficiary system**. This is tried and tested and used widely in many communities. We are not looking to make beneficiaries compulsory, or required in any way to get a favourable vote. **If people find Steem Atlas a useful service it will be greatly appreciated if anyone wants to set a beneficiary to our project account @steem-atlas.** [Please make sure you include the ' - ' in the account name.] The suggested level of beneficiary is 10% but any amount, greater or smaller, will be much appreciated. This will in the first instance help us build up our project account to give greater rewards to users of Steem Atlas. If users are making their posts for Steem Atlas on steemit.com they can set the beneficiary to @steem-atlas as normal.
