A story (maybe a ghost story? Maybe not? But we know she is a gentle soul). Here is her story, as told in the Little Cherine Series of novels.

When it persisted, I decided to investigate. I still did not recognise it as a soul and finding no obvious source nurturing it, I ignored it again for another twenty years. Finally I realised that it is something unique to all the worlds I have known and returned to learn more about it. Many Terrans have a hint of psychic awareness. For instance, as they sit lost in their thoughts, they’ll feel a strangers eyes fixed on the back of their head and they will turn to check there is not something which threatens them. I think it was something similar, for as I gently probed the energy, while wondering whether I should remove some of the soil, my intrusion was felt and it reacted violently - to itself and its environment. Its first reaction was the most astounding, for it instantly recreated its body. Being as immature as it was on the day it died, it did not realise it no longer has a body, so the determination to kick out created a body for her. The second reaction was the explosion of rocks and soil as she kicked out. Suddenly, in the pit now exposed, I saw a small female child. She looked up at me and then with a smile, she reached in to me and I heard her words directly in my mind, partly spoken in the version of Hellene she had learnt from her mother and partly meaning was communicated by her emotions. “Why have you spent so much time alone? From now you will have me to make you smile.” I was shaken by the emotions she shared and spoke without thinking, “You are a blessing (Ευχή).” She accepted the word as her name from me and so it became her name, but also, it became what she is to all life. What I did not realise at that time is that I, a Perisfian, from a distant star and time, an alien guardian of Mankind, at that moment came one small step closer to being a Terran male. The change in me was just as violent as the creation of her own body had been and it took some time for me to recover.
