These beings embed themselves into weak minded people (the "host") that they can manipulate in order to get a supply to feed upon. The host is far from blameless as they have the ability to "kick them out" so to speak, but generally lack the mental fortitude to do so. So they are just as culpable as the psychic vampire because they typically become an extension of it if they are not actively fighting against it. There are different types of psychic vampires. Some focus on emotional energy, others on spiritual life force energy, and some on physical aggression or sexual energy. The host will most likely feel drained in one or more of these areas and will knowingly or unknowingly feel a very strong need to create situations that exert the energy that the vampire is looking for. If the vampire is able to get supply from situations created from the host, there is less of a drain on the host. This abuse can take the forms of physical, sexual, emotional or verbal abuse. These are people that will cheat on you, lie to your face, physically harm you, generally treat you like garbage, consistently show little to no consideration for how their decisions impact you, try to mold you into something of their creation instead of respecting who you are as a person. These are just some of the many examples of these toxic relationships. If you find yourself in this situation, or you have been in one in the past, it is imperative to understand why so that you will not repeat the same mistakes and leave yourself vulnerable for these types of people. Sometimes it is not just the doing of the psychic vampire, it also extends into you allowing it to happen as well. This is a crucial point that a lot of people gloss over. Victims will often make excuses for themselves staying in the relationship such as they are not good enough for anyone else, or that they love them too much to leave, or they convince themselves that the person will change eventually. These are the victims issues of self worth, loneliness, and lack of setting boundaries that allows people to take advantage of them. There is something you need to understand about psychic vampires. These people will not change, they do not love you, they will continue taking advantage of you as long as you let them. They will pressure you into doing things that you really don't want to do. They will use you as an emotional dumping ground, dumping all of their problems on you without returning the favor. They will typically ditch you to hang out with someone they favor higher than you or do this to punish you if you do not do what they want. These are also people who will be nice to your face but talk behind your back causing chaos that they can feed upon. They will also purposely "hit on" or be disrespectful towards you with your spouse or loved one. Real friendships will value the same values and principles that you do. They will also go specifically out of their way for you and put just as much into the friendship as you do. They will be people that you can confide in confidently and will not speak unkindly of you behind your back. Real friendships have a solid foundation to stand upon. That foundation should be your values and principles that both of you share. Beware of friendships that have no foundation and no substance. It is good to analyze your friendships and ask yourself what you are getting out of the friendship. Some people will allow themselves to be taken advantage of or allow behaviors that they would not if it was coming from a stranger. My question is, what is the difference? To me there is none. I measure my family to the same standard as I do complete strangers. So if a family member of mine is not a good person, I do not associate with them the same as I would a person on the street. It is important to not allow a person being a family member to get in the way of your principles and values. If they are not a good person by your standard, do not associate with them regardless of who they are. Psychic vampires will use the excuse of being family as a way in. Do not be blind to this fact. Family members should show you love and respect and be there for you like any good friend would. They should want the best for you and allow you to be your own person and make your own decisions, even if they are mistakes in their eyes. Sadly a lot people do not know what a good healthy family relationship looks like because they have never had one. Good family will always be there for you no matter what.
