Greetings Steemit friends,

It is another Sunday. Most Sundays, I usually go for my early morning sports, but that is not the case today. Most of the members of our group went out of town for a match, so I had to spend the entire day at home, which is unusual for me.

Since I was not going to church either, I had to find a way to keep myself occupied throughout the day. I woke up early, then went back to bed. I ended up falling asleep again and only got up around midday. By that time, it was too late for breakfast, so I decided to prepare lunch instead.

Eru had already been prepared, what my Nigerian friends would call "Afang leaf." It is sliced into small pieces and usually cooked with fish, meat, and sometimes snails. This dish is common among people from the South West Region of Cameroon.

While still lazy about getting something to eat, I got a call from my wife. We had a long chat while I was also watching a TV program in the background. Right now, every news channel seems to be focused on one topic. The upcoming presidential elections.

As a democratic country, organizing democratic elections always comes with its challenges. Even the USA, which many of us look up to, faces a lot of issues during its election periods. Just like the world talks about U.S. elections, we, here in Cameroon, are deeply concerned about our own election process and its outcomes whenever the time comes.

A lot is going on in the country right now, the unresolved Anglophone crisis, Boko Haram attacks in the North, and let’s not forget the economic challenges, made worse by the bad road infrastructure. The country truly has a lot on its hands, and politicians will have a long list of promises to make during the campaign season.

Eventually, I got so hungry that I decided to make garri to eat with the eru. Garri is a product made from cassava tubers. The tubers are ground, dried, and then fried, sometimes with palm oil, sometimes without. That’s how we get the yellow and white garri. Today, I prepared white garri.

The process is simple, heat some water, pour the required quantity of garri into a bowl, and stir until it reaches the right texture. Just enough that you will be able to finish it all. After eating, I went outside and spent some time with a neighbor who came around.

Later in the evening, I decided to watch the news. That’s when I learned that my prediction of 30 presidential candidates had already moved up to 31, and more are still expected to submit their files. With just 24 hours left until the deadline, it is important to remember that simply submitting your candidacy does not mean you are an approved candidate yet.

Later on, I took time to watch a movie titled "Molly's Game." It was a very interesting film and kept my attention all the way through. After the movie, I went to bed, and that’s how my day ended.

Cheers
