On June 2, 2025, a very unusual incident took place in Pakistan in which a 17-year-old TikTok influencer, Sana Yousuf, was killed by unknown persons after entering her house and shooting her twice in the chest. At first, the police and Sana's family considered it a case of theft and were searching for the thief, but a few hours later, CCTV footage and Sana's phone records made everything clear.

Sana, who was born in the health-promoting area of Chitral in Pakistan and was living with her mother and father in a rented house in Sector G-13 of Islamabad to pursue her education, was murdered one day on June 2, 2025, by a 22-year-old young man, Omar Hayat. But who was this Omar Hayat? Was he a thief, or did he have a personal enmity with Sana? This matter also circulated in the media for several hours. Finally, the Inspector General of Police Islamabad clarified everything in a press conference and said that Omar Hayat, who was a resident of Faisalabad area, 300 kilometers away from Islamabad, and had known Sana Yousaf for more than a year, killed Sana Yousaf based on her refusal to marry.

The news of this incident spreads like wildfire, that after all, the rights of women in Pakistan are so low that anyone would kill them in broad daylight based on their refusal to marry. But in reality, this incident is more about the madness of a mentally ill person than the rights of the Pakistani people or women, who, in a fit of rage, killed a 17-year-old innocent girl based on her refusal to marry.

Omar Hayat was a 22-year-old young man from Faisalabad, a textile area of Pakistan. This young man, who drove around in big cars and targeted different girls, belonged to a poor family. But influenced by social media, he tried to establish relationships with girls by buying expensive cars and gifts, and this is exactly what he wanted to do with Sana Yousaf. First, he contacted Sana Yousaf on Instagram, and Sana Yousaf had also been in touch with him for the past several months, but on the basis of unknown reasons, she suddenly stopped contacting him. Recently, on May 29, on the occasion of Sana's birthday, when Omar Hayat arrived at her house in a rented Fortuner car, Sana refused to meet him by avoiding the matter, and Omar Hayat waited for Sana to meet him in Islamabad from almost morning to evening. Finally, Sana strictly forbade him from meeting her. Because Omar Hayat had been in contact with Sana for the past several months, he knew the address and house of Sana Yousuf's house, so on the morning of June 2, he reached Sana Yousuf's house with a pistol. But when he reached outside Sana Yousuf's house, he saw that the door of the house was locked from the inside. He stood outside and waited and tried to contact San Yousuf, but suddenly he saw that a maid had opened the door and forgotten to close it. Taking advantage of this opportunity, Omar Hayat entered the house and reached Sana's room on the first floor, about which he already had information. According to the police, Sana tried to talk to the accused as soon as she saw him, but at that time Omar Hayat was very angry and fired two bullets into Sana's chest because she refused to marry him, due to which Sana met her true self on the spot.

Now, on the surface, this appears to be an incident in which a fanatic boy killed a girl based on her refusal to marry, but in reality, there are many other issues hidden behind it. In my opinion, the fanatic boy, who belonged to a poor family and who used expensive gifts and cars just to attract people in the society and gain understanding, was influenced by those people who, by showing expensive cars on social media, instill in the minds of the young class that life is just a show and unfortunately, such incidents do not happen only in Pakistan but are common all over the world, especially in South Asia.

This incident raises many questions regarding the social aspect, one of which is whether Omar Hayat's parents were so careless that they were unaware of Omar's every activity, and why Sana Yousaf did not tell her parents about Omar Hayat despite repeated threats. In my opinion, the carelessness of the parents also plays a major role in this. They ignored the activities of their children and gave them the freedom to do all kinds of right and wrong things in society, and because of this, a 17-year-old innocent girl who was still a first-year medical student left this world forever.

If I relate this incident to my personal life, I also use Instagram, and while scrolling through the reels on Instagram, I come across reels in which people are just showing off, and unfortunately, a large number of the youth today, especially in Pakistan, have deviated from the purpose of life. They are unaware that one progresses in life by working hard, and it is foolish to ever be arrogant and live by money alone as a criterion in life. But because they are being influenced by people whose only source of livelihood is to show people false dreams and make money, if it is to be induced, then such incidents become quite common, and when such incidents become common in a society, that society soon goes to the brink of destruction.

I do not have much hope for improvement, but still, I pray to Allah Almighty to save all the young generations of the whole world from such influencers and people who only follow money as a standard and for whom earning money is the first goal in life.
