Steem blockchain is a decentralized social media platform, built under the DpoS consensus mechanism where the distributed ledger records transactions and every blogging activity. The first 20 witnesses verify every transaction on the blockchain and they're voted by the steemit users. Blocks are created every 3 seconds and any witness that create the block gets 10% reward while the remaining goes to the content creators, authors, steempower holders, and the blockchain proposals.

Also, searching for specific content is made easy with the availability of communities.
