Greetings my lovely friends! I have a usual daily routine that is familiar and structured. Everyday I should visits to the salon and prioritizing work over household chores. However, now, my pregnancy has completely reshaped my routine. At nearly five months along, I find myself easily succumbing to fatigue, needing more rest than usual. I asked her how she slept, knowing she struggled to adjust to our bed and surroundings. Her response shocked me! she had been battling dizziness since 4:30 am. Angry that she had chosen to suffer in silence, I urged her to seek medical attention.

Together, we made our way to the Medihelp channeling center. The doctor recommended further tests, including an ECG and Thyroxine blood test. When the ECG result came back, the doctor advised us to take her to the hospital immediately. We rushed to KDU Hospital, a semi-government hospital run by the Sri Lanka Army. Despite it being our first visit, we were impressed by its cleanliness and efficiency. A doctor examined the reports and informed us that she could not find any serious issue with it and recommended another ECG. After more waiting and more tests, we were relieved to hear that there was nothing serious, although the conflicting advice between doctors left us confused. However she then advised to be on safe side and to double confirm we should do a blood test also. She explained that there were some inconsistencies in the first report and it might happen due to the printing issue! but ultimately in the blood reports, there was no risk of blood clots. Instead, the dizziness was likely due to an imbalance in her ear. An appointment was made for the ENT clinic the next day, and medication was prescribed. The exhaustion only hit me once I knew my mother was out of danger. While returning, I couldn't help but think how fragile our health and this life is and the extent we are ready to keep our loved ones safe. Finally, I am grateful she was able to return home with me and she had no serious medical concerns. A day filled with full of events ended like that. Until we meet again! 🌸
