"Jẹ ki a lọ wa Tata": Childhood Adventures and Grasshoppers!

These Rice Grasshoppers are quite common around Epe, much like other short-horned species. I have such fond memories of chasing them when I was a kid! My friends and I had a little chant, "Jẹ ki a lọ wa Tata," which translates from Yoruba to "let's go catch some grasshopper." It was a classic childhood game, and we'd often have friendly competitions to see who could find the most striking or 'finest' one!

These fascinating insects from the Oxya genus are prevalent across parts of Africa and Asia, thriving particularly in damp, grassy areas like rice fields.

Feel good to have childhood memories sometimes.
Thanks for viewing ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

What did you do with the grasshoppers you caught?

We cut of the hind leg and let it run while we're looking at it or cause trouble😂😂.

Poor thing

😂😂, we were kids then though, we loved disturbing small insects
