the definition of "gentlemen" changed
If you hated to stay home, you could find a place to stay in the gentlemen’s club, where you could do as you like. Socially unacceptable behaviour was fine, unless you were homosexual (paedophiles seemed to be welcome though). The Gentlemen’s Club, which started in Britain, already knew hundreds of years ago how to keep themselves safe and pretend that a "gentleman" never runs and always walks.
Are men today different from those in the 18th century? I doubt it. We only call it by a different name. What is interesting is that these clubs were meant for men to form friendships with other men. This means that even hundreds of years ago, men lacked social skills and were unable to meet, greet, start a conversation, or talk about their interests. If that was the case with "rich" men, who did not work from 6 to 8 in the evening, I wonder why, after hundreds of years, the ability to socialise, which is certainly a human need, has not improved.
Is it due to industry, looking down on others (rank-related), or did education (school) and the way people are raised by their parents create this lack of social intelligence? Or is it a side effect of medication, vaccination, or the wrong DNA that makes us believe interacting with others isn't a good thing? If you ask me, it's good to be with like-minded people, to be with creative friends providing positive energy. That's what clubs are for, but if I may believe Wikipedia, the gentlemen’s club started in the first place because men felt lonely and unaccepted by society.
Isn't that interesting, since we live in a world created by men?

I feel that people like to create a certain prestige for themselves, an upper-class aura, distinct from hobby clubs like chess or cooking. They want somewhere to boast or enhance their ranking. But these days, I don't really trust men coming together like that.

The gentlemen's club in ancient times must have been different, I mean homosexuality was almost a myth, now we have lgtvi/1458-xyz communities hahaha, this is in order to be able to have sex even with animals, thank goodness I am a man, I like women, but I analyze their behaviors. On one occasion I entered the gym, I saw two muscular men, with beards, even intimidating, and one approaches the other and greets him with a kiss on the mouth, it makes me laugh so much, a lot of strength, a lot of muscles and no manliness hahaha
