I want to take this brief moment to thank @okere-blessing for organising this contest titled "Realities of Godfatherism, My thoughts". This topic is timely. Godfatherism has negatively affected us deeply in Nigeria and is still affecting us. It is like a father helping his child get a job even if others are more qualified. This system is unfair nd makes hard work useless. ### **The Story of Moses and the Cabin Company** Moses was a loyal nd hardworking man in the Cabin Company. He knew everything about the company nd was next in line to become the boss when his old boss retired. Everyone expected Moses to take over bcz he deserved it. But suddenly something unfair happened. The retiring boss brought his son into the company to "learn" from Moses. Even though Moses trained him well, the son was not as experienced or skilled. Yet, when it was time to choose a new leader, the boss picked his son instead of Moses just bcz of family ties. This is a clear example of **godfatherism** choosing someone bcz of personal connections, not ability. ### **What Will Happen to the Cabin Company?** If the boss’s son is not capable, the company will face many problems: 1. **Bad Leadership** – The son may make wrong decisions bcz he lacks experience. 2. **Unhappy Workers** – Employees like Moses, who worked hard for years, will feel cheated nd may leave. 3. **Loss of Money** – Poor leadership can lead to losses nd the company may even fail. Without good leadership the company will struggle nd honest workers will suffer. ### **Have I Ever Faced Godfatherism?** Many of us have seen this happen in real life. Maybe in school, where a teacher’s child gets special treatment. Or in a job where a friend of the boss gets promoted over better workers. It is frustrating bcz hard work is ignored. I believe success should come from **skill nd effort** not just who you know. ### **People Who Succeed Without a Godfather** Some people have no powerful connections bt still succeed through hard work. They face more challenges but their success is **more meaningful** because they earned it. We should respect nd support such people instead of favoring those with "godfathers." ### **What Should Be Done?** - Companies should **promote based on skill**, not family or friendship. - Workers should **speak up** against unfair treatment. - Society should **reward hard work** not just connections. If Cabin Company continues like this, it will fail. But if the new leader listens to exparienced workers like Moses there might still be Hope.💫 ### **Final Thoughts** Godfatherism is a disease in many societies. It kills hard work, discourages talent nd rewards laziness. For any company or even a countryto grow, people must be chosen **bcz they are good, not because they know someone.** ---
