Introduction

Pride comes before a fall - The story of Mr. Know-all

Famed for his wisdom and wealth, every special occasion would not be complete without Mr. Know-all's presence. Infact, The king and rulers won't make any decisions without seeking the consent of Mr. Know-all. **He held so much influence that he could be regarded as a god or a totem of faith for the animals in the jungle.** Mr. Know-all, however had **"one fatal flaw and that was his believe that he can never make mistakes** and at such requires no man's opinion. He viewed everybody including his own wife as trash whose only purpose was to serve as a stepping stone to his greatness. According to his words, *they were nothing more than trash*. As his popularity soared, his pride too seemed to develop wings. He never listened to anyone and always found flaws in everything someone did. This gave his beautiful wife - Anum many nights of misery as he was always complaining about everything she does.His children were not left out as he siezed every opportunity to tell them they did not take his DNA, which was that of wisdom. **Anum, his wife on countless occasions had tried to warn him on the dangers of his prideful behaviour.** It was getting towards the year end and **the jungle's annual feast and awards night, was fast approaching**. This time Mr. Know-all was invited to be a special guest of honour and one of the recipient of the high chief's award. And In his bid to show everyone his splendor and beauty, Mr. Know-all got all ready. On the D-day, Mr. Know-all went to the kitchen and supervised his wife's cooking. He felt she was too slow and incapable of cooking to his taste. **He even asked his wife to double the amount of pepper in his stew. A decision which his wife tried to dissuade him from, fearing he would have a runny stomach.** Mr. Know-all would have none of his wife's advise as he turned the entire content of the pepper container into his stew and ate to his fill. **Be careful my dear your actions might lead you to ruin, she advised.** ![IMG_20240820_165220.jpeg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmShzcs6kuMx6FzrVuwvhnmoocb9nMpE9ukVDzRqU4mWHM/IMG_20240820_165220.jpeg) _{Mr know-all leaving for the annual feast.}| |- Leaving the house, far behind schedule on the special carriage set aside for him, He suddenly felt his insides turn so badly and he needed a release. **He ordered his carriage driver to stop as he got down and decided to empty his bowels on the nearby bush.** In the process of doing so, **his flowing outer garment which his carriage driver advised him to leave in the carriage got stained by a copious amount of his own poop.** Feeling relieved, he went back into the carriage not noticing the mess he made. He even went ahead to criticize the poor ventilation of the carriage and the poor material used to in it's construction which he thought was the source of the bad smell he perceived. His driver was about to point his mistake but was jolted by a shout from mr. Know-all who mock sympathized with him on his plight as an illiterate driver who knew nothing about finesse and style and class. Vexed his driver drove even speedily to the occasion square and brought him beyond the parking lot unto the centre of the square where titled men were gathered. **Feeling pleased he stepped out gingerly with all amount of finesse.** However instead of loud cheers he expected, he was met with long faces, gossips and looks of disgust as many held their nose and frowned their face as he walked in. *Why are they all looking at me this way?* He reasoned. Trying to shake that feeling of **he twirled around just as he had rehearsed at home to show his exquisite clothing and make an impression.** However, this even repulsed the crowd more as some people started throwing up. And thats when he heard a group of kids laughing and pointing towards his bottom. **Following the eyes of the crowd, he saw his backside was plastered with poop, and huge flies were taking pleasure in singing choruses around the mess he created**... He really wished the ground would swallow him that moment. There his wife walked to him, looked at him with a mixture of sadness and wisdom. she said, **My dear, pride comes before a fall.** You can always do better.
