Here we are. Hmmm. Lovely and cosy on the terrace. As you say. And the best part is we don't have to pack any suitcases or sit in traffic for hours, not to mention passport control and customs. You said it. Fancy another coffee? Hmmm, isn't there any milk or at least a sugar cube? This coffee tastes a bit off. Just think of it as part of the holiday experience - that's the reason. I think there's something in my coffee... is that a fly? ..... Hey... ? How's that rocking chair? My seat's rather hard and it's killing my back. You sure it's not that corset? How exactly are you planning to swim wearing that thing? Isn't it boiling hot? You know I can't swim anyway. Besides, the river doesn't exactly look inviting. I'll just stay here on the terrace or maybe go for a stroll under the parasol. There's all sorts of rubbish in the air. Didn't you know? I heard the staff talking about it. It's in all the papers. The world's ending soon. Is that why you're dressed like that? Virgin in white? Don't be daft! It's just cooler this way, though the colour is rather loud. Look, there it is again - that filthy fly! I'm definitely not drinking this coffee now. ... I need to tell you something. ? I'm bored stiff. Shall we stop this nonsense? Let's be honest - a staycation is a ridiculous idea. Everything's exactly the same as usual. Let's just pack our bags and book a little hotel by a sunny beach instead of this pathetic charade. *We stare at each other in silence. Then burst out laughing.* Finally! I thought I had to keep pretending because you were so convinced about this 'relaxing at home' idea. But alright, I admit - this does feel exactly like sitting in our back garden. Exactly! We both know this is no Santorini beach. Look, even the sun can't be bothered - more 'grey-cloud-vibes' than 'azure-blue-skies'. Right, enough of this. Where shall we go then? Spain? Greece? Or just spontaneously head to that beach bar in Zeeland where at least the sea's actually real? ## NL Daar zitten we dan. Ja. Lekker gezellig op het terras. Wat je zegt. En het mooiste van alles is dat we de koffers niet hoeven te pakken en geen uren in de file hoeven te staan, om nog maar te zwijgen van de paspoortcontrole en de douane. Wat je zegt. Wil jij nog wat koffie? Hmmm, is er geen melk of tenminste een suikerklontje. De koffie smaakt wat raar. Je moet maar zo denken dat het vakantie is en dat dat de reden is. Volgens mij zit er iets in de koffie, is dat een vlieg? ..... Zeg... ? Hoe zit die schommelstoel? Deze stoel zit tamelijk hard en doet zeer aan mijn rug. Weet je zeker dat dat niet door dat corset komt? Hoe wil je eigenlijk gaan zwemmen met zo'n ding aan? Is het niet stikheet? Je weet toch dat ik niet kan zwemmen? Daarbij ziet de rivier er ook niet al te fris uit. Ik blijf gewoon lekker op het terras of wandel een stukje onder de parasol. Er zit allemaal troep in de lucht. Wist je dat niet? Ik hoorde het personeel erover praten. Het staat in alle dagbladen. De wereld vergaat binnenkort. Ben je daarom zo uitgedost? Maagdelijk in het wit? Nee gekkie, dat is omdat ik het anders veel te heet krijg maar de kleur is wel erg opzichtig. Kijk hier is hij, die smerige vlieg! Ik ga die koffie echt niet meer opdrinken. ... Ik moet je wat vertellen. ? Ik verveel me dood. Zullen we met die onzin ophouden? Wees eerlijk, een staycation is een belachelijk idee. Alles is hetzelfde als voorheen. Laten we onze koffers pakken en een hotelletje boeken aan een zonnig strand in plaats van dit zielige gedoe. *Zwijgend staren we elkaar aan. Dan barsten wij in lachen uit.* Eindelijk! Ik dacht dat ik het moest volhouden omdat jij zo overtuigd was van dit 'ontspannen dichtbij huis'-idee. Maar goed, toegegeven, dit voelt alsof we gewoon in onze achtertuin zitten. Precies, maar intussen weten we allebei dat dit geen strand op Santorini is. Kijk, zelfs de zon doet niet echt zijn best. Het is meer 'grijs-wolken-sfeer' dan 'azuurblauwe-hemel'. Goed, genoeg geleden. Waar gaan we heen? Spanje? Griekenland? Of gewoon spontaan naar dat ene strandpaviljoen in Zeeland, waar tenminste de zee écht is? Zolang we maar wegkomen van deze nepvakantie en laten we alsjeblieft ergens naartoe waar de koffie wél drinkbaar is en er geen vliegen in rondzwemmen.
