Fue todo un éxito el homenaje que les rendimos a mujeres que incursionaron en el arte pictórico, como una forma de reivindicar su trabajo en un contexto fuertemente dominado por los caballeros. # En esta semana seis, les presentaremos a un pintor francés de nombre Alfred Smith.

Alfred Smith nació en Burdeos (Francia), el 30 de julio de 1854. De su familia podemos de decir que su padre en 1869 decidió irse para los Estados Unidos a hacer fortuna, razón por la cual él y su hermano mayor, Enmanuel, se convirtieron en el sostén de la familia. # Su primer trabajo lo realizó en un banco como corredor de bolsa. Pero, en sus momentos libres, se dedicaba a la pintura. # Fue así como en el año 1877 realizó su primera exposición en el Salón de la Sociedad de Amigos de las Artes de Burdeos. También se hizo profesor de la Escuela de Bellas Artes de Burdeos. # Entre los años 1884 y 1890, Alfred Smith obtuvo varios reconocimientos por sus obras. De allí que para el año 1886 dejó su trabajo en el banco para dedicarse por completo al arte. # El 7 de diciembre de 1899, a los 45 años de edad, contrajo nupcias con Catherine Philippine, en Lyon. Luego el matrimonio se mudó a París, en el año 1901. # Su esposa falleció en el año 1935 y poco después murió él, el 3 de noviembre de 1936, cuando tenía 82 años. Ambos están enterrados en Lyon. # Alfred tuvo una producción pictórica prolífica. Se le conoció como "El pintor de la maleza", porque le gustaba pintar al aire libre y recrear paisajes. Uno de sus espacios preferidos era Crozant, localidad y comuna de Francia, en la región de Lemosín, departamento de Creuse, que forma parte del Camino de Santiago. Venecia también lo cautivó de manera extraordinaria. Por ello en muchas de sus obras, estos espacios están presentes. # A continuación les presentaremos tres obras para que usted escoja la que más los motive a escribir. La primera se llama: "Muelle de Burdeos, en la mañana"; la segunda, "Paseo en barco" y la tercera "Pescador veneciano".

Alfred Smith was born in Bordeaux (France), on July 30, 1854. Of his family we can say that in 1869 his father decided to go to the United States to make his fortune, which is why he and his older brother, Emmanuel, They became the breadwinner of the family. # His first job was in a bank as a stockbroker. But, in his free moments, he devoted himself to painting. # Thus, in 1877, he held his first exhibition at the Salon of the Society of Friends of the Arts in Bordeaux. He also became a professor at the Bordeaux School of Fine Arts. # Between the years 1884 and 1890, Alfred Smith received several awards for his works. Hence, in 1886 he left his job at the bank to devote himself entirely to art. # On December 7, 1899, at the age of 45, he married Catherine Philippine, in Lyon. The couple then moved to Paris in 1901. # His wife died in 1935 and he died shortly after, on November 3, 1936, when he was 82 years old. Both are buried in Lyon. # Alfred had a prolific pictorial production. He was known as "The Painter of the Undergrowth", because he liked to paint outdoors and recreate landscapes. One of his favorite spaces was Crozant, a town and commune in France, in the Limousin region, Creuse department, which is part of the Camino de Santiago. Venice also captivated him in an extraordinary way. For this reason, in many of his works, these spaces are present. # Below I will present three of these for you to choose the one that most motivates you to write.
