When I was younger I'd spend some summer nights cat fishing and playing music with friends. One of these friends is now the lead singer for the Ohio band [The American Landscape](http://theamericanlandscapeband.com/#music). We recently reconnected through music after all these years, and this week he came over to help me out with a brand new release. He has one of those voices that just rings with emotion, and you really get a sense of it in this recording. "Syria, or West Virginia" was written about war-torn Syria, but when I sing it I also see places like [Boone County, West Virginia](http://weheartwv.com/2016/06/07/things-are-really-bad-in-boone-county/) in my head as well.
