Last night I began with a bull, to drive out the bear market. Today I tweaked a few more polygons. I will explain how I did this picture.

As in my last posts i try to give you some step-by-step insight - on this i will focus a bit more in future. If you have any ideas, questions or feedback, let me know and I will answer and/or integrate your feedback!

Letzte Nacht habe ich mal mit einem Bullen begonnen, welcher den Bärenmarkt vertreiben soll - funktioniert garantiert! Ich erkläre wieder, wie ich das Bild gemacht habe.

Wie auch in meinen letzten Posts, mag ich ein paar Schritt-für-Schritt Einblicke geben - darauf werde ich mich in Zukunft auch mehr fokussieren. Wenn du/ihr Ideen, Fragen oder Feedback habt, lasst es mich wissen und ich werde darauf eingehen.

From the beginning you should work with the orthographic view. This makes it much easier for you because you do not have to work with perspective. So switch on ortographic mode - and do not forget to provide the rendering camera with the orthographic mode.

First create a flat plane in the shape of how you imagine the bull.

Von Anfang an solltest du mit der orthographische Ansicht arbeiten. Dies macht es dir wesentlich einfacher, da du weniger mit der Perspektive arbeiten musst. Also ortographischen Modus einschalten - und nicht vergessen die Rendering-Kamera mit dem orthographischen Modus zu versehen.

Erstmal eine flache Ebene erstellen, welche man sich für den Bullen so vorstellt.

Now fill the layer with polygons. Try that the lines/borders of the polygons already depict the body of the bull. If you look closely, you can already see legs, head, horns, etc.

Here you should not wildly insert polygons, but act sensibly. But do not worry: you can also move all points as needed or even delete and redefine - and move points is still a big part of the way forward.

Nun die Ebene mit Polygonen füllen. Dabei versuchen, dass die Linien/Grenzen der Polygone schon den Körperverlauf des Bullen abbilden. Wer genau hinschaut, kann schon jetzt Beine, Kopf, Hörner usw. sehen.

Hier sollte man nicht wild Polygone einfügen, sondern sinnig vorgehen. Aber keine Angst: man kann alle Punkte ja auch bei Bedarf verschieben oder gar löschen und neu definieren - und Punkte verschieben wird eh noch großer Teil des weiteren Weges.

Goal is to colorize the layer in one color and to create all color variants only through reflections. You could also color the polygons one by one - which would certainly slow down the moving / editing of vertices. It would take more time to color all polygons.

Anyway: at this point you can already insert a light source. This should be between camera and bull. Do not worry: you can and will play with the positioning of the light source later anyway. Do not assume that the positioning is final.

Moving the vertices of the polygons gives you the foundation to make the polygons reflect differently if they have different angles of inclination, and that's what causes the polychrome.

So: tinkering, puzzling, tinkering.

In the following picture I have changed my point of view, so you will realize how you should/can proceed.

Jetzt beginnt die frickelige Arbeit. Ziel ist es, die Ebene einfarbig einzufärben und alle Farbvarianten nur durch Reflektionen zu erschaffen. Man könnte durchaus auch die Polygone einzeln einfärben - was manchmal sicherlich das verschieben/editieren der Eckpunkte vermindern würde. Man bräuchte aber mehr Zeit, um alle Polygone gezielt einzufärben.

Wie dem auch sei: an diesem Punkt kannst du schon eine Lichtquelle einfügen. Diese sollte zwischen Kamera und Ebene liegen. Keine Angst: du kannst und wirst später eh nochmal mit der Positionierung der Lichtquelle spielen. Gehe nicht davon aus, das die Positionierung endgültig ist.

Mit dem Verschieben der Eckpunkte der Polygone hast du die Grundlage, damit die Polygone, sofern sie unterschiedliche Neigungswinkel haben, unterschiedlich reflektieren - genau dies verursacht die Mehrfarbigkeit.

Also: tüfteln, tüfteln, tüfteln. Im folgenden Bild habe ich mal meinen Blickwinkel verändert, damit dir klar wird, wie du vorgehen solltest/kannst.

If you notice polygons that do not quite fit or fit, do not hesitate to redefine or delete them.

Wenn dir Polygone auffallen, welche sich nicht so recht einfügen wollen oder passen, zögere nicht und definiere sie neu oder lösche sie.

As you may have seen in the last picture, I not only colored the layer blue, but also duplicated the polygons of the eyes, cut them out and inserted them in red.

So slowly you should also find the final position of the light source, so you can do the detail work in the area of the positioning of the nodes.

Before you finalize the position, play something with the light position - possibly resulting in totally interesting results. As you can see, I also wanted to set the light above the bull, but then decided on a position under / in front of the bull's head.

Wie du evtl. im letzten Bild gesehen hast, habe ich nicht nur die Ebene blau eingefärbt, sondern auch die Polygone der Augen dupliziert, ausgeschnitten und rot eingefügt.

So langsam solltest du auch die finale Position der Lichtquelle finden, damit du die Detailarbeit im Bereich der Positionierung der Knotenpunkte tätigen kannst.

Bevor du die Position endgültig festlegst, spiele ruhig auch etwas mit der Lichtposition - evtl. ergeben sich total interessante Resultate. Wie du sehen kannst, wollte ich das Licht auch erst oberhalb des Bullen setzen, habe mich dann aber für eine Position unter/vor dem Kopf des Bullen entschieden.
