After a brief introduction and a materials list, you get right to it, following my simple step-by-step instructions. You will recreate a Monet landscape to a level you would not have believed possible at the beginning. I recommend painting the same picture again and again - improving your technique and building confidence. As you work, I discuss the selected painting’s key features and I give some background information about the painting & Monet’s life at the time it was painted. I start by breaking down the composition into simple elements (the skeleton). It is a process tailored to the beginner but anyone can follow the course. Next, we move onto paint (the flesh). Again, I demonstrate the application process and explain the order in which the paint is applied. Even at this early stage the learner will begin to see a marked resemblance to the Monet original. Take breaks between videos, to stretch and refresh, or burn through the process quickly drying the painting using a hairdryer. Once the picture is dry we move on to the final stage, which is to apply the ‘painted’ surface (the skin). We use oil pastels to replicate Monet’s brushwork. Each technique of application is demonstrated first, the participant needs only to follow the process. After 2 hours you will have created an accurate impression of the great Impressionist’s work, something you will be proud to show off to family & friends alike.

Other things to note

Don’t forget to wear clothes that you don’t mind getting a bit of paint on. Its not incredibly messy but better safe than sorry.
