Space Based solar power systems (SSPS) is aiming to transmit solar power driven electricity to the Earth by 2030 by using large square solar panels in space.

(MHI) successfully experimented a ground demonstration test of wireless transmission of electricity which will be the base for solar power production from the space utilizing solar panels in the space or an entire array of the panels.

Robots will take care of the maintained and the care of solar panels in space, JAXA will launch a robot astronaut in the space to work on their solar panel system. Each craft will have an effective lifespan of 40 years, that is the expectation of scientists.
